Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Resistance Brunch?
A progressive grassroots organization in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, founded in 2016. Members meet every six to eight weeks for a potluck brunch with a guest speaker, then take action: voter education, vote-by-mail renewals, canvassing, and fundraising for Democratic candidates.
Where does the Resistance Brunch meet?
In Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Brunches are hosted at a member's home; the address is shared with your RSVP confirmation. Public actions — marches, meet-and-greets — are announced on this site and on Facebook.
How do I join?
Through a member, usually — reach out on our Facebook page and tell us who sent you. Brunches run near capacity, so RSVPs are required and early RSVPs are appreciated.
Does the Resistance Brunch endorse candidates?
We don't issue our own endorsements. We feature the published endorsements of the Dolphin Democrats — Florida's oldest LGBTQ+ political organization, whose endorsements are voted by members after candidate questionnaires and presentations — and we list every qualified Democrat in every race so voters can judge contested primaries themselves.
Where does my donation go?
The donation links on this site take you to each candidate's own ActBlue page, so you give to the campaign directly. Political contributions are not tax-deductible.
What's the most important thing a Florida voter should do right now?
Re-request your vote-by-mail ballot. Every request filed before 2025 has expired under Florida law — even if you voted by mail in 2024. The deadline for the August 18 primary is August 6 at 5 p.m.
